SEEKING NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS

Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Seeks Candidates to Serve:

The Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a group of nine people who are deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing, and hearing others (e.g., parent of a deaf child, teacher of the deaf, interpreter) appointed by the Governor to advise him, the Department of Health Services, and the Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing about issues and concerns affecting over 500,000 people who are deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people.   

There are now four (4) vacancies, and candidates are being sought to serve 4-year staggered terms or serve out a term vacated by a former Council member.  Deaf, Deaf-Blind and hard of hearing individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Council meets four times a year, mostly in Madison.  Interpreter, real time captioning and FM services are provided.   

The Governor's Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing meeting meets from 10 am to 4 pm 
at the Department of Health Services.
The room is equipped with assistive listening devices. 
Real time captioning and interpreting services will be provided.
